SophiA Water Technologies for Drinking and Deionised Water Poster Presentation
The 40th Euromembrane Conference in Sorrento, Italy was attended by the Water Technology team of HKA from 21st – 24th November 2022.
The Horizon 2020 EU funded project SophiA was presented by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Hoinkis, his team member Sneha De and SophiA’s advisory board member Dr. Alberto Figoli with a poster on ‘Laboratory Pilot of SophiA Water Technologies for Drinking and Deionised Water’. The concept of SophiA’s water treatment comprising the concept of 2-stage water treatment system based on low-pressure technologies, namely ultrafiltration (UF) to address microbial safety and membrane capacitive deionization (MCDI) for water softening was introduced. The key results obtained from the laboratory test of Cube® mini and FM06® modules manufactured by Martin Systems GmbH and the MCDI C12 module were presented. The highlight of the poster session was the interest of audience to learn more about the SophiA’s innovative containerised solution powered by renewable energy to support Africa in achieving sustainable development growth and economic transformation.
