Steffen Wassler is an experienced engineer and worked extensively in Uganda’s solar PV sector. He was He co-founded a solar company and advises on market expansion up to 1 MWp projects. At the same time, he focuses on energy efficiency and ISO 50001 energy management in Germany. Previously, he worked in the gas turbine and automotive industries. He speaks German and English and is passionate about sustainable energy access.
Dr. Michael Stuer
Research group leader who joined Empa in 2019 after several years of industry experience. As a trained material scientist, he has a proven record in powder technology and ceramics—specializing in colloidal processing, rapid sintering, and advanced grain boundary engineering. Driven by a passion for solving real-world challenges, he bridges the gap between fundamental research and practical innovation to develop tailored materials and processes. Among other research topics, he works on ceramic depth and surface filtration systems for water sanitation applications.
