On April 13, 2022, during the 7th IIR International Conference on Sustainable Development and the Cold Chain (ICCC 2022), the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR), in collaboration with the Institute of Refrigeration (IoR, UK), organised an online workshop entitled “Projects on clean and efficient refrigeration solutions for food and healthcare in developing countries“, which was attended by 80 participants. The SophiA project was the first presentation of the workshop.
During this event, the SophiA coordinators from the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) presented the European Commission’s SophiA project and the SophiA cooling and water container technologies* in detail. Michael Kauffeld and Oliver Schmidt explained the current situation in Africa with regard to cooling and air conditioning demands and some of the working conditions in the health sector.
