SophiA participated to the final event of SESA and Energica, two of the Green Deal sister projects, titled: “Africa in Transition – a bright future for energy and local communities”.
SophiA was represented by three partners: International Institute of Refrigeration, Institute for Solar Technology SPF – Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences and Raach Solar.
The two days gathered a wonderful and inspiring mix of representatives from Africa and Europe, from all areas: policy makers, funding agencies, NGO, industry and academia. Starting with a impactful agenda based on presentations, panel discussions, and enough time to networking, the event was the perfect occasion to present the main results of the two EU funded projects, and underlined the importance of enhancing the local capacity building for a sustainable energy transion, bridging the finance and inclusivity gaps, unlocking the climate finance for local energy solutions, the importance of policy, impact tracking of energy innovations supported by EU-AU collaboration program and Green Deal.
SophiA videos were presented to the more than 120 participants, and synergies for the postproject maintenance and joint capacity building acitivties were discussed.
This was the perfect opportunity to deepen the collaboration with ECREEE and ECOWAS, and to plan the next SophiA-ECREEE joint events.
