On October 12 and 13, 2023 IIR, 2iE and SPF partners represented the EU-funded SophiA4Africa project together at the 8th edition of the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) Sustainable Energy Forum ESEF 2023 in Praia (Cabo Verde). This year’s theme was “Strengthening sustainable energy in the ECOWAS region”.
The event was an excellent opportunity for SophiA partners from Africa and Europe to meet and discuss the project’s progress. Andreas Reber from SPF and Kodjo Sédi Agbokou from 2iE had insightful discussions about the necessary preparation for the first demo site in Burkina Faso, at Operieren in Afrika, as well as about capacity building on SophiA technologies for heating, cooling, and clean water. During the event, the first SophiA video was displayed at the end of the IIR presentation on the Sustainable Cooling Systems Challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The SophiA4Africa communication material was displayed on the 2iE booth at the FRIEREE exhibition in Praia.
Before the forum, the IIR and 2iE participated in a two-day course on Solar Thermal Energy with a special focus on large-scale solar water, heating and cooling systems, organised by ECREEE and SHC TCP – IEA Technology Cooperation Programme on Solar Heating and Cooling, at the CERMI facilities in Praia.
