SophiA at the ENRICH in Africa Center event
On June 14th 2023, Kirsten Laaks, a Mechanical Engineer at Everflo was invited to the Inauguration ceremony of the ENRICH in Africa Center in Cape Town. She gave an opening speech about SophiA and Everflo, and she referred specifically to the Woman and Youth Led Initiatives.
The ENRICH in Africa Center has been developed within the framework of the ENRICH in Africa project, which is funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Framework Programme. The mission of ENRICH in Africa Center is to strengthen the European Union-Africa tech and innovation ecosystems. That include supporting innovators collaboration, connecting investors, corporates and policy makers with the aim of enabling positive social impact and green business.
The following day, Kirsten also promoted the SophiA project at the European Union-African Union Innovation Festival, who took place at the Cape Town International Convention Center (CTICC), in Cape Town. She was accompanied by Brendan Prestage, from KOVCO. They had a stand to promote SophiA: lots of people visited the stand and showed interest in the containers!
At both of these events, the EU ambassador to South Africa, Ms Sandra Kramer; the European Commission Director for Global Approach and International Cooperation in Research and Innovation, Ms Maria Cristina Russo; and the Principal Scientific Officer at the African Union Commission’s Department of Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Monica Ebele Idinoba, were presents.
