As a proud partner of the SophiA project, Makerere University will host the upcoming Train-the-Trainers. This event will offer participants practical and theoretical training on solar-powered cooling systems using natural refrigerants, as well as skills in maintaining filter-based water treatment systems and solar heat processes.
What to Expect
Building on the successful format of the Burkina Faso training in June 2024, participants will gain:
🔹 Expertise in sizing solar cooling systems
🔹 Knowledge of water treatment and solar heat processes
🔹 Hands-on skills in maintaining sustainable technologies
Progress & Results
The containers with training equipment were initially set to be collected in December 2024, but due to a delay with MSC, they arrived at Mombasa port on March 8, 2025, after a 2-month shipment delay. The equipment is now being transported to Jinja, with an estimated arrival on March 22, 2025. Once cleared, the equipment will be prepared for the Train-the-Trainers in June.
