The ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) aims to facilitate partnerships and identify ways to support investments and policy initiatives of the ECOWAS Member States. The Forum is a demand-driven and result-oriented event, which aims to facilitate investments and foster concrete progress towards the region’s sustainable energy targets. ESEF is also a platform for improving the policy and regulatory landscape for private sector investment through engagement between ECOWAS policy-makers, regional and international private sector players, and financial institutions. 

SophiA participated last year to the ESEF 2023 in Praia (Cabo Verde). This event was an excellent opportunity for SophiA partners from Africa and Europe to meet and discuss the project’s progress. SPF and 2iE had insightful discussions about the necessary preparations for the first demonstration site in Burkina Faso, at Operieren in Afrika, as well as about capacity building on SophiA technologies for heating, cooling, and clean water. 

At the next ESEF 2024 in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire), SophiA might organise a workshop focusing on cooling and heating projects underway in the ECOWAS zone.
